Akinpelu Puts Residents’ Health at Centre of First Anniversary Activities

Hundreds of residents of Alimosho Local Government have benefited from a free medical outreach organised by the administration of Chairman Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson as part of activities marking his first anniversary in office.
The two-day exercise provided residents with access to basic healthcare services at no cost, including blood pressure and blood glucose checks, malaria testing, tuberculosis and hepatitis screening, HIV counselling and testing, eye screening and general medical consultations.
The initiative was designed to make essential healthcare more accessible to residents, particularly those who may struggle to meet the cost of routine medical checks and early diagnosis.
Speaking during the outreach, Akinpelu said the programme reflected his administration’s commitment to putting the welfare of residents at the centre of its policies and programmes.
He stressed that good health was fundamental to the productivity and prosperity of any community, adding that financial limitations should not prevent people from accessing basic healthcare.
According to him, the outreach also provided an opportunity for residents to identify potential health conditions early and seek appropriate treatment before they become more serious.
Akinpelu urged residents to take advantage of the available services, particularly the screening programmes, noting that regular health checks and early detection could help prevent complications and improve health outcomes.
The chairman commended the medical professionals, volunteers, partners and other stakeholders who contributed to the success of the programme, describing their participation as an important contribution to the well-being of the community.
Reflecting on his first year in office, Akinpelu thanked residents for their support and cooperation, saying their confidence in his administration had strengthened its resolve to deliver more people-oriented programmes.
He reaffirmed his commitment to expanding initiatives that improve healthcare, social welfare and the general quality of life of residents.
The chairman also called for continued cooperation between the local government and residents, stressing that sustainable development required collective participation.
