Lagos RRS Arrests Suspects In Midnight Sweep Along Lekki–Ajah Expressway

The Lagos State Rapid Response Squad has arrested a number of suspected miscreants and hoodlums during a midnight enforcement operation along the Lekki–Ajah Expressway, targeting individuals accused of harassing motorists and disrupting public safety.
The operation focused on persons who allegedly intimidate drivers, demand money and, in some instances, damage vehicles when their demands are refused. Details of the action were provided by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab.
“The operation was targeted at individuals who allegedly harass and intimidate motorists, extort money from them, and, in some instances, damage vehicles when motorists refuse to yield to their demands,” Wahab said. He added that the squad would continue intelligence-led operations and enforcement against criminal elements whose activities threaten public safety and impede the free movement of people and vehicles across the state.
A subsequent update from the state government confirmed that the overnight operation followed careful investigation into the suspects’ activities of harassment, extortion and brigandage. These actions, officials noted, had posed a significant threat to the daily lives of residents and motorists along the Lekki–Ajah corridor.
The government reaffirmed that the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu would sustain close collaboration with law enforcement agencies to rid the state of miscreants, hoodlums and other elements seeking to create an atmosphere of fear and lawlessness.
The Lekki–Ajah Expressway has faced recurring reports of motorist harassment, prompting repeated security interventions. The latest midnight operation forms part of broader efforts to restore order, protect road users and ensure safer commuting on one of Lagos’s busiest routes.
