Army Raids Illegal Bunkering Site, Seizes Trucks and Equipment in Lagos

Troops of the 65 Battalion of the Nigerian Army have dismantled a suspected illegal bunkering site in the Orile area of Lagos State and arrested six suspects.

The operation was carried out under the leadership of the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel S. Adeojo, following credible intelligence.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 81 Division Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya.

According to the statement, the troops raided the location and arrested six suspected oil bunkerers.

Items recovered during the operation included four trucks, one pumping machine, as well as assorted pipes and drums allegedly used for illegal bunkering activities.

Yahaya said the suspects and recovered exhibits have been handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, for further investigation and necessary action.

The General Officer Commanding 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Abdulrahman Babalola, commended the troops for the successful operation and urged them to sustain the offensive against economic sabotage and other criminal activities within the division’s area of responsibility.
