Police Raid Criminal Hideouts in Lagos, Arrest 147 Suspects
The Lagos State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal hideouts across the state under the ongoing Operation Ko S’AYE III, leading to the arrest of 147 suspects and the recovery of weapons and other exhibits.
The command disclosed that the operation was carried out in the early hours of Sunday, July 19, 2026, when a joint team of operatives drawn from various police formations raided criminal hideouts at Boolar, Super Ile-Epo and other identified black spots across the state.
According to the police, the operation resulted in the arrest of 147 suspects.
Items recovered during the raids included 250 expended cartridges, 22 machetes, five battle axes, two knives, one pair of scissors, one lighter, assorted charms and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
The command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the operation formed part of sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks and deny hoodlums safe havens across Lagos.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to the continuous implementation of Operation Ko S’AYE, urging residents to provide timely and credible information to support the police in identifying criminal hideouts and apprehending offenders.
Adamawa Police Arrest Suspect Over Alleged Murder
Meanwhile, the Adamawa State Police Command has arrested Abubakar Musa over the alleged murder of 30-year-old Nathaniel Yusuf of Jambutu Ward in Yola North Local Government Area.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the arrest followed a report lodged at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Kofare, by the deceased’s sister, Grace Yusuf.
According to Nguroje, police operatives responded promptly to the distress call, rescued the victim and rushed him to the Specialist Hospital, Jimeta, while the suspect was arrested at the scene.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim sustained severe injuries, including fractures to both legs, his right hand and head, after he was allegedly attacked with a stick.
Despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life, Yusuf was later confirmed dead while receiving treatment.
The Commissioner of Police, Kabiru Hassan, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yola, to take over the case for thorough investigation and prosecution.
The deceased’s body has been deposited at the hospital for an autopsy, while investigations continue.
The command assured residents of its commitment to ensuring justice and urged members of the public to continue supporting the police with credible information.
