Benin City Youth League Sanctions Dynamo Academica
The Benin City Youth League has officially sanctioned Dynamo Academica Football Academy following their controversial conduct during the 2026 league final award ceremony.
While extending congratulations to Dynamo Academica on clinching the championship title, the League strongly condemned the club for staging its own independent awards immediately after the official presentation, using the same podium and tournament environment.
In a strongly worded statement, the League described the action as inappropriate, unprofessional, and highly disrespectful to the organizers, participating clubs, match officials, sponsors, and all stakeholders involved in the competition.
The League stressed that official award ceremonies are the exclusive responsibility of the competition organizer. Clubs do not have the right to stage parallel presentations during the official ceremony.
The League viewed the incident as an attempt to overshadow the official awards and undermine the integrity of the competition. After consultations with key football stakeholders, the League imposed the following sanctions on Dynamo Academica:
– A fine of **₦100,000** for conduct prejudicial to the image and integrity of the league.
– A mandatory **formal written apology** to the League Management and relevant stakeholders within **48 hours**.
– A final warning to Dynamo Academica and all other participating clubs against organizing any independent player awards, medals, trophies, certificates, or recognitions within the official venue or ceremony without prior written approval.
The statement further warned that future violations would attract stiffer penalties, including increased fines, suspension from league activities, or other disciplinary measures.
The Benin City Youth League emphasized its commitment to maintaining discipline, professionalism, and respect within the competition. The League noted that football is built on respect and vowed not to hesitate in taking firm action to protect the integrity and standards of the competition.
This development is expected to serve as a deterrent to other clubs as the League strives to uphold protocol and order in future seasons.
