A former Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Abdul Hamed Salawu, popularly known as “Dullar,” has withdrawn from the upcoming All Progressives Congress House of Representatives primary election in Somolu Federal Constituency.

Salawu announced his withdrawal in a statement issued on Saturday morning, May 16, 2026, ahead of the APC primaries in Lagos State.

According to party sources, the decision followed high-level consultations and strategic meetings involving political leaders, elders and stakeholders within the constituency and the Lagos APC structure.

In the statement, Salawu reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and commended Bola Tinubu for sustaining what he described as a disciplined and progressive leadership style focused on party unity and collective interests.

He explained that his withdrawal from the House of Representatives race was a sacrifice made in the interest of party supremacy, consensus building and political stability within Somolu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The former council chairman urged his supporters and political associates to remain calm and accept the development peacefully.

Salawu also appreciated members of his political structure for their support and commitment throughout his campaign efforts, expressing confidence that his loyalty and sacrifice for the party would be recognised in the future.

With his withdrawal, attention is now expected to shift to the remaining aspirants contesting for the APC ticket in Somolu Federal Constituency as the party intensifies efforts to maintain unity ahead of the elections.
