Midnight Fire Razes Residential Building In Badagry
Residents of Okunnu community in the Araromi Ale area of Badagry were thrown into panic after a midnight fire outbreak destroyed a residential building and property valued at millions of naira.
The incident reportedly occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Mercy Street when a fire started from a shop before spreading quickly to a nearby residential apartment.
Witnesses said the flames intensified within a short time, engulfing the building and destroying household items and valuables as occupants struggled to salvage their belongings.
The situation caused fear across the neighbourhood as residents rushed out of their homes while some attempted to contain the fire before emergency responders arrived.
Officials of the Lagos State Fire Service later responded to the emergency and successfully prevented the blaze from spreading to adjoining buildings.
Residents commended the swift intervention of the firefighters, noting that their efforts helped to avert a larger disaster within the community.
Although no casualty was recorded, victims of the incident were left with significant losses after the building was completely destroyed by the fire.
Community members have appealed to local authorities, humanitarian organisations and well-meaning Nigerians to support the affected families with relief materials and financial assistance to help them recover from the incident.
