Otunba Jide Oni Reaffirms Support for Bamigbetan’s MHR Bid Amid Prayers of Unity
Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan on Thursday paid a symbolic and emotionally significant visit to Otunba Ismail Jide Oni, whom he described as his political father, trusted adviser, and a pillar of support in his political journey, as he advances his pursuit to represent Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II in the House of Representatives in 2027.
Otunba Jide Oni is a seasoned politician with over 40 years of experience, serving as the Apex Leader of the All Progressives Congress in Isolo LCDA and a prominent leader of the Justice Forum.
The visit, rooted in loyalty and long-standing political alignment within the APC, highlighted the enduring bond between both leaders in Isolo LCDA politics.
Bamigbetan, popularly known as KOK, praised Oni as a man of integrity and a straightforward leader whose guidance has shaped his political journey.
“He is a man of integrity, a straightforward leader of impeccable character, and a true role model whose wisdom continues to guide me in public service,” he said.
Reflecting on past political experiences, Bamigbetan recalled how Oni conveyed the decision of party leaders to endorse him for the House of Representatives ticket in 2023 and mobilised support that helped secure his emergence. He also noted that he stepped down when directed by the party to allow another aspirant complete two terms.
The visit was further enriched by prayers offered by political and faith leaders, symbolising unity and shared purpose.
The chairman of the KOK Mandate Campaign Group, Tajudeen Ogunbanke, offered prayers in the Islamic tradition, while Ibijoke Adeosun led prayers in the Christian faith, reflecting a rare moment of interfaith harmony and collective blessing for progressive leadership.
In his response, Oni reaffirmed his support for Bamigbetan, describing him as a tested and trusted leader.
“He is a tested and trusted leader who deserves to win the ticket,” Oni said.
The engagement further underscored the depth of mentorship, loyalty and political alliance between both men, as well as their shared commitment to party ideals and public service.
