Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Mr Babatunde Hunpe, has thrown open the doors for deeper collaboration with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service as he hosted the agency’s Badagry Station Head on a familiarisation visit and pledging full council support for joint fire prevention and emergency response initiatives across the area.
Receiving Chief Fire Officer Dossa Isaac and his team at the council secretariat, Hunpe commended the Fire Service for its consistent prompt response to distress calls and its critical role in preventing major fire outbreaks through timely interventions in the community. He charged the personnel to continue upholding the highest standards of professionalism, efficiency and responsibility while remaining fully committed to the service’s vision, mission and core values.
The Chairman noted that the current season of extreme heat has significantly raised the risk of fire incidents across Badagry. He expressed personal appreciation for the agency’s proven responsiveness and urged stronger partnership between the council and the Fire Service.
Hunpe declared the local government’s readiness to work hand in hand with the agency on massive sensitisation campaigns, public education on fire prevention and the strengthening of emergency response mechanisms throughout the local government.
He assured the visiting team that the council would provide the necessary support to make such collaborative efforts successful, describing the partnership as a move to safeguard lives and property in Badagry.
The Chief Fire Officer, Dossa Isaac appreciated the Chairman for the receptive service as He reaffirmed that the Fire Service’s mandate goes beyond emergency response to include the protection of lives and property in homes, on roads and in public spaces.
He highlighted the agency’s ongoing public awareness campaigns on the causes of fire outbreaks and the importance of using the toll-free emergency line to access rapid assistance.
