Police Arraign Two Suspects Over Child Molestation, Forceful Marriage On Minor

The Police in Lagos has arraigned two suspects, Chiwendu Oma and Chisom Ogbonna, over an alleged unlawful marriage and child molestation imposed on a minor.
Oma, 31, and 34-year-old Ogbonna were held for trial at the Magistrates’ Court in Ikeja, Lagos, over charges of conspiracy and sexual assault, offences commited sometime in September 2025, as disclosed by the Police Prosecutor, Adegoke Ademigbuji.
The litigants, residents in Ayobo area, pleaded not guilty but Ademigbuji maintained that Oma gave the minor, her 15-year-old daughter, to Ogbonna as a wife, and that Ogbonna repeatedly molested the girl until she fled to a police station, leading to the arrest of the two traders.
Ademigbuji, told the court that the alleged offences contravened Sections 134 and 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Omolara Kushanu, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N500,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case until April 8.
