Naija Women Football Gets New COO, Announces New Structure, Innovations
The Naija Women Football Award is pleased to announce the appointment of Olusola Adebayo, a veteran journalist and sharp broadcaster, as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) in charge of the day-to-day running of the award operations.
The Naija Women Football Award celebrates and rewards distinguished players in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) on a weekly basis, covering various categories, culminating in an end-of-season Gala event.
In his acceptance speech, Olusola Adebayo expressed his commitment to furthering the credibility of the award and enhancing its reach. “I am honored to take on this responsibility. I pledge to uphold the integrity of the Naija Women Football Award and work tirelessly to improve its recognition as the premier football award for women in Nigeria,” he stated.
Dr. AbdulRahman Abolore, CEO and Founder of the Naija Women Football Award, spoke highly of Adebayo’s appointment, stating, “The decision to appoint Olusola Adebayo as our COO was an easy one. He has been an integral part of the award from its inception, contributing in various capacities to ensure that only the best players are recognized. We are confident that Olusola will bring his extensive expertise and professionalism to enhance the overall success of the award.”
The Naija Women Football Award is also excited to announce several key innovations aimed at improving its credibility and increasing fan engagement.
Notably, a new Judges’ Faculty/Panel will be responsible for selecting deserving award winners, replacing the previous system of match delegates nominating players across different match centers, and fan voting via social media platforms.
This change is intended to eliminate prejudice and favoritism, ensuring that the panel is composed of individuals with impeccable integrity.
In addition, starting from the second stanza of the league, the Naija Women Football Award will introduce a thrilling Prediction Game for fans. Participants can accumulate points by predicting the outcomes of NWFL Premiership matches in the following categories:
Home Win, Away Win, Draw, and Exact Scoreline.
The points system is as follows:
Home Win: 1 point
Draw: 2 points
Away Win: 3 points
Exact Scoreline: 10 points
The fan with the highest points on each matchday will be rewarded, while the top predictor at the end of the season will receive a grand prize and fully sponsored trip to NWFL Super 6.
Sponsorship opportunities are available for both the Prediction Game and the Naija Women Football Award, as the platform continues to gain traction and recognition.
