The eldest daughter of the late gospel singer Omije Ojumi has delivered a moving tribute to her mother, describing her as a woman of strength, virtue, and unwavering commitment to her family.
Speaking at a service of songs held in Ojumi’s honour on Wednesday, her daughter, Jomiloju, highlighted her mother’s dedication to raising disciplined and responsible children despite the challenges she faced in her marriage.
“She was always there for us, even when our father wasn’t,” Jomiloju said during the tribute. “Her focus was to make sure we turned out responsible and did better than she did in her marital journey.”
Jomiloju recalled how her mother placed a high value on education, making sacrifices to ensure her children attended the best schools she could afford, believing that this would secure their future.
In an emotional moment, she also publicly pledged to honour her mother’s wishes by looking after her younger brother and guiding him to fulfil the role her mother had envisioned for him.
“I promised my mum that I will take care of my younger brother,” she said. “He will be the prayer warrior and responsible son she wanted him to be.”
The tribute captured the enduring love, faith, and resilience of Ojumi, whose legacy continues to inspire her family and fans across the gospel music community.
