Businessman, Carpenter In Custody Over Rape On Teenager

A businessman, Prince Tomnyie and carpenter, Michael Adenuga, have been held in remand over alleged rape on an 11-year-old girl.
Tomnyie and Adenuga were both arraigned by the police at the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court where they were accused of also defiling the victim, thus, suspected to have contravened the enshrines laws of Lagos State.
At the proceedings, Police Prosecutor, Adegoke Ademigbuji, said that the defendants committed the offence sometime in December 2024 at Langbasa area of Ajah, but they litigants pleaded guilty to the allegation.
Nevertheless, Ademigbuyi held that the victim identified Tomnyie, 40, and Adenuga, 24, as those who raped her. He added that the teenager was taken to the hospital for medical check-up which revealed that she had been defiled.
The prosecutor said that the charge of defilement imposed on the suspects is a contravention on the provisions of Section 137 of the Lagos State Criminal Laws, 2015.
The Magistrate, Lateef Owolabi granted a bail in the sum of N600,000 on the defendants in like sum with two sureties to be provided.
Owolabi then ordered their remand till they fuffill the requirements of the bail conditions and thereafter ardjouned the case till March 5.
