2025 AFCON: Iwobi Credits Eagles Form On Team’s Chemistry

By Saheed Afolabi
Nigeria midfielder, Alex Iwobi has pinned the team’s monstrous form in the 2025 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) on the team’s bonding which has played an integral impact on the result.

Iwobi has engineered the Super Eagles midfield with needle thread passes which has opened up opponents defense in search of scoring chances.

The midfield maestro said the close relationship between the players have played a huge role in unifying the team.

He attributed the current form of the Eagles to the prime of the players which has contributed immensely to the growth and effectiveness of the team.

“I felt like the differences in the sense of brotherhood, the family that we’ve created for each other. Of course the previous AFCON, we’ve done really well, the team has been so strong, but at the same time the team was young and we were learning about each other,” Iwobi said at the prematch Press Conference in Rabat.

“I feel like right now, everybody’s entering their prime, everyone is playing well respectfully for their clubs and you can see the joy and the chemistry that we have when we’re playing for our country. It’s not just on the pitch, also off the pitch everybody is happy, there’s a big unity, a big family, and it starts from the coach as well as the players. That brotherhood, and it lasts because it’s like we’re one big family.

“You can see it on the pitch that we’re fighting for each other, so I feel like that’s bringing out the best, not just in me but in all the players.”

Nigeria faces host, Morocco in the semifinal of the AFCON at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Rabat on Wednesday, January 14th.
