Tension gripped parts of Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State on Thursday, December 18, 2025, following a violent clash linked to a long-standing land dispute between the LCDA chairman, Hon. Prince Idris Balogun (Oluomo Kafata), and the Onisheri of Isheri-Olofin, His Royal Majesty Oba Ibrahim Olasunkanmi Lawal Bello Olanwa I, Olofin V, Aremo Olofin Ogunfunminire.

The crisis reportedly arose after the monarch accused the council chairman of attempting to forcefully take control of a parcel of land claimed not to belong to him. Eyewitnesses said the dispute escalated on Thursday when aides of the chairman confronted supporters of the traditional ruler at the disputed site.

The confrontation created fear and uncertainty among residents and local business owners until Nigeria Police Force operatives intervened to restore order.

During the operation, several individuals suspected of attempting to seize the land were arrested, including aides of the council chairman. Those reportedly taken into custody include Tega Jibraham, said to be the chairman’s Chief of Staff, and Mr. Tunde Ojosipe (Eleshin), along with others whose identities are yet to be confirmed.

Residents praised the police for their swift action and called for a thorough investigation to ensure justice and lasting peace in the community.

As of press time, no official statement had been issued by the police regarding the arrests. Efforts to reach the Egbe-Idimu LCDA chairman for comment were unsuccessful.
