The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has announced plans to organise a one-day workshop for hospitality businesses and entertainment operators across the state as part of efforts to regulate noise pollution and safeguard the environment during the yuletide season.

The workshop, scheduled for Friday, December 19, 2025, is designed to engage key stakeholders in the hospitality and entertainment sectors on the need for effective noise control, especially during the festive period when activities peak and the impact of excessive noise on human health and the environment becomes more pronounced.

Speaking during a media interview, the General Manager of LASEPA, Dr. Tunde Ajayi, disclosed that the workshop, titled “Harmonizing Hospitality Industry with the Environment” and themed “Effective Noise Control and Compliance,” will bring together operators and owners of nightlife venues, event centres, restaurants, bars, hotels, lounges, disc jockeys (DJs) and other players within the entertainment industry.

Dr. Ajayi explained that the engagement will hold at the State Treasury Office Resource Centre, ASSBIFI Road, Alausa, Ikeja, and is expected to commence at 8:00 a.m. He noted that the initiative is aimed at helping operators better understand environmental standards, strengthen compliance, avoid regulatory sanctions and operate sustainably within the provisions of Lagos State environmental laws before, during and after the yuletide season.

According to him, the workshop is also expected to attract top government officials, including the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab; the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Environment, Engr. Olakunle Rotimi; and the Permanent Secretary, Office of Environmental Services, Dr. Omobolaji Tajudeen Gaji. Heads of relevant government agencies and parastatals are also expected to attend.

The LASEPA boss added that participants would receive practical guidance on responsible business operations, effective noise management and environmental best practices, which are essential for sustaining a safe, healthy and harmonious urban environment in Lagos State.

While urging hospitality and entertainment operators to take full advantage of the workshop, Dr. Ajayi stated that the engagement forms part of LASEPA’s broader strategy to promote sustainability, improve compliance and support the continued growth of the sector without compromising residents’ wellbeing.

He further assured Lagosians that the agency remains committed to ensuring a peaceful and noise-free yuletide season across the state. Wishing residents a Merry Christmas in advance, Dr. Ajayi called on all Lagosians, irrespective of background, to continue supporting the state government’s drive towards a cleaner, safer and more environmentally friendly Lagos.
