Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has revealed that she has achieved more than she ever imagined in the music industry.

The “Love Me Jeje” crooner made the disclosure during a recent interactive session with fans on X. When asked, “What are you currently looking forward to? Also, would you say you’ve achieved all of your dreams prior to stardom?” Tems replied, “I’m looking forward to whatever the Lord has in store and honestly I’ve achieved beyond my dreams from when I had a 9-5.”

Tems launched her music career after leaving her job as a digital marketer in January 2018. She released her debut single, ‘Mr Rabel,’ later that year, which gained moderate attention. However, she rose to international prominence after featuring on Wizkid’s 2020 hit single ‘Essence,’ which reached number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart following the remix with Justin Bieber.

In 2023, she became the first female Afrobeats artist to win a Grammy when her collaboration with Future and Drake, ‘Wait For U,’ won Best Melodic Rap Performance at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.

She further cemented her global recognition in 2025 by winning the Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance, becoming the only Nigerian artist to claim multiple Grammys. Tems also earned Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for co-writing Rihanna’s ‘Lift Me Up.’
