Paystack: Ezra Olubi breaks silence on termination, alleges dismissal before investigation concluded

Ezra Olubi, co-founder and former Chief Technology Officer of Paystack, has stated that he was terminated from the company over allegations of sexual misconduct, calling the dismissal unfair.
Olubi detailed his side of the story in a blog post published on Sunday, November 23, 2025, addressing the events that led to his exit from the payments firm.
According to reports, the controversy began when Max “Makispoke” Obae accused Olubi of misogyny and discussed their past interactions on an X Space. The situation intensified after Olubi’s old tweets, containing sexually explicit and disturbing content, resurfaced. These posts prompted allegations of misogyny, predatory behaviour, and other serious accusations.
Paystack reportedly suspended Olubi on November 12 and launched a formal investigation into the claims. In his blog post, Olubi said he was dismissed before the investigation concluded and without being granted a hearing, which he described as a violation of the company’s internal policies.
Olubi expressed concern that his decision to remain silent during the probe left a vacuum that allowed assumptions and misrepresentations about his conduct to spread.
“Over the past few days, my name and reputation, built over years as co-founder and technical leader at Paystack, have been called into question because of information circulating online,” Olubi wrote.
He added that he refrained from making public statements during the investigation to avoid interfering with the process and to allow for a fair and unbiased review of the allegations. “Those who know me personally or professionally understand that the posts being circulated do not reflect my conduct or the way I have lived my life,” he said.
Olubi said he was informed of his termination on Saturday, November 22, 2025, before the investigation was concluded and without any opportunity to respond to the claims, a process he described as inconsistent with Paystack’s stated procedures.
