Nigeria’s Minister for Trade and Industry, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, has been announced as an Ambassador of the 2025 Lagos Women Run (LWR), ahead of the highly anticipated annual event scheduled for 8 November 2025.
The Coordinator of the Lagos Women Run, Tayo Popoola, confirmed the appointment in a statement on Friday, describing Dr. Oduwole as both the Special Guest of Honour and a newly inducted ambassador for this year’s edition.
“We do this every year, and this time we are so happy to have Dr. Oduwole confirmed as our special guest and ambassador,” Popoola said. “There are many plans in place to make this edition the best yet.”
Popoola noted that preparations have intensified in recent weeks, with the Lagos State Government working closely with the organisers to deliver a more impactful and inclusive event.
The Director-General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, is leading the coordination efforts and has charged all committees involved to ensure a successful outing.
The Lagos Women Run, now a major fixture on the state’s sporting calendar, seeks to promote women’s fitness, empowerment, and well-being in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The event also highlights broader social themes, including poverty eradication, girl-child education, zero hunger, and gender equality, while fostering a stronger fitness culture among African women.
