Multi-talented Nigerian Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has commissioned a female hostel at Clifford University, Abia State, named in honour of his late mother, Dr Veronica Adeleke.
The newly unveiled facility, Veronica Imade Adeleke Female Hostel, was inaugurated during the university’s 6th Convocation Ceremony, where Davido also delivered an inspiring commencement address to graduating students.
In his speech, Davido urged the graduates to pursue lives of purpose and impact, stressing that true greatness lies not in fame or fortune but in service to others.
“When I looked into their faces, I saw the same fire that built me that hunger to make something out of nothing, to turn pain into power,” he said. “Talent might open the door, but purpose gives it meaning.”
The singer described the hostel as a continuation of his mother’s legacy, noting that Dr Veronica Adeleke, an educationist and philanthropist, dedicated her life to empowering others through knowledge and compassion.
“My mother was a teacher and giver who believed education and compassion could change lives. This building is a continuation of her purpose turning love into legacy,” Davido wrote.
Davido was accompanied by his close friend, Cubana Chief Priest, who pledged to sponsor the school fees of 50 students in support of the gesture.
