Nigerian singer Euphemia Ekumah, popularly known as GoodGirl LA, has opened up about her journey, revealing her struggles with family pressure, education, and following her passion for music.
The ‘Early Momo’ hitmaker stated that she doesn’t regret not completing her university education, despite being forced to write JAMB. However, she expressed regret about going to school at all, wishing she had left home earlier to fully pursue her music career.
Reflecting on her relationship with her family, GoodGirl LA revealed that her father once disowned her and evicted her from their home after she told him she wasn’t interested in continuing her studies.
“I have never regretted not completing school. My only regret is that I wish I had left home earlier to chase my dreams. I wish I never wrote JAMB. I wish I had absconded when my dad was forcing me to write it. I was 16 and unsure of what I wanted to do, but by 17 or 18, I got clarity and left home,” she told Hip TV.
She added, “When I told my parents I wasn’t interested in school anymore, my dad asked me to leave the house. At one point, he even disowned me. Then, I left home.”
GoodGirl LA revealed that her family eventually reconciled with her after she began making waves in the music industry, marking a turning point in her personal and professional life.
