Badagry Royals Join Fight Against Gender-Based Violence

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), in partnership with the Ford Foundation, has secured royal support in its campaign against sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in Badagry, Lagos.
During his 61st birthday celebrations, Oba Agono Toniyon I (Aholu of the Agamathen Kingdom, Ajara-Badagry) welcomed the DSVA’s Community Engagement Team into his palace, urging residents to speak out and report cases of abuse.
Head of the DSVA Community Engagement Unit, Mr. Damilare Adewusi, educated locals on rising SGBV cases and provided the state’s 24-hour toll-free hotline (08000-333-333) for victims and witnesses.
The initiative reflects a growing partnership between government, civil society, and traditional rulers to protect communities and empower survivors.
