Igando-Ikotun LCDA, NDLEA Partner to Tackle Drug Abuse in the Community

Residents of Igando-Ikotun LCDA can expect stronger efforts against drug abuse as the Chairman, Comrade Akinsanya Lasisi Ayinde, welcomed the new Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Alimosho Area Command, Mr. Uche Sampson, to the Local Government Secretariat.
Mr. Sampson, recently posted to the command, visited to introduce himself, congratulate the Chairman on his re-election, and appreciate the council’s support for NDLEA’s advocacy efforts.
He assured residents that his focus would be on community sensitisation to protect young people and families from the dangers of drug and substance abuse.
He encouraged locals to take advantage of NDLEA’s rehabilitation services for anyone battling addiction and called for closer cooperation between the agency and the LCDA to stop trafficking, misuse, and illegal possession of drugs.
Chairman Akinsanya pledged full support for NDLEA’s outreach programmes, stressing the need to prioritise prevention by taking anti-drug campaigns into schools and engaging Community Development Associations (CDAs) to spread the message to every household.
The NDLEA Commander also conveyed greetings from the agency’s Chief Executive and reaffirmed the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign’s commitment to working directly with residents to build a healthier, drug-free community.
