He praised the monarch’s contributions to grassroots mobilisation, traditional leadership, and nation-building, saying: “Kabiyesi Shotobi has demonstrated exceptional wisdom and unity of purpose in his rulership. His reign has brought tremendous growth and pride to Ikorodu Division.”
In a tribute delivered at the grand ceremony held in Ikorodu, governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described Oba Shotobi as “a symbol of peace, unity, and grassroots development,” noting that his reign has brought about remarkable transformation across Ikorodu Division.
He said, “Your Majesty, your ten years on the throne have been a decade of progress, inclusiveness, and bridge-building,” Sanwo-Olu said. “Your role in fostering harmony among the people and advancing the socioeconomic growth of Ikorodu is commendable. You have truly elevated the traditional stool.”
The celebration, which attracted prominent royal fathers, political figures, and community leaders, featured cultural displays, traditional rites, and tributes highlighting Oba Shotobi’s achievements since his ascension in July 2015.
Governor Sanwo-Olu further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the traditional institution and deepening development partnerships with monarchs across the state.
Responding to the tributes, Oba Shotobi expressed deep appreciation to the people of Ikorodu and Lagos State at large, pledging to continue to serve with humility and integrity.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Ogunwusi, who attended the celebration in person, also commended Oba Shotobi’s role in promoting Yoruba heritage and strengthening traditional institutions across the South-West.
