Lagos Govt Restricts Activities In Hotels, Gas Station Over Noise Pollution
The Lagos State Government has sealed hotels, stores and gas stations over allegations of environmental infractions through noise pollution.
The state government through it’s Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA, disclosed that enforcement which was also carried out at religious facilities was held following persistent noise pollution which caused a breach of peace in their surroundings.
The agency noted that operation which took place on Tuesday, was part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to uphold environmental standards and ensure public health and safety in residential and commercial areas.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, stated that the facilities include: Admax Lounge, Casco Gas Plant, Food Affairs, Hotel De Bravo, JC Wellington Hotel & Suites, Niger Villa, Nayon Superstores, Another Level Hotel, The Levite Assembly, Lutana Lounge & Suites, and Kelwinson Hotel.
The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) intensified its enforcement operations on Tuesday, June 17 by sealing off multiple facilities across the Lagos Mainland over persistent environmental ⁰violations, particularly noise pollution.
The agency’s enforcement team carried out the operation across various locations including Aguda, Surulere, LASU-Iba Road, Ilogbo Road, Jakande, Ajangbadi, Ojo, Okokomaiko, and Agric Bus Stop.
Among the facilities shut down during the operation were Admax Lounge, Casco Gas Plant, Food Affairs, Hotel De Bravo, JC Wellington Hotel & Suites, Niger Villa, Nayon Superstores, Another Level Hotel, The Levite Assembly, Lutana Lounge & Suites, and Kelwinson Hotel.
Wahab reiterated the government’s commitment towsrds enforcing environmental laws to safeguard residents from the harmful effects of pollution.
