In a heartwarming display of community spirit, thousands of residents in Ojodu LCDA gathered at the Council Secretariat Complex on Thursday, June 5th, 2025, for the Ileya Special Edition of the Subsidized Food Market event, held in collaboration with Inspire Lagos Food Market.

The initiative aimed to alleviate the financial burden often experienced by residents during the festive season.

A wide range of staple food items, including rice, yam, noodles, vegetable oil, palm oil, beans, onions, tomatoes, garri, pepper, bread, and frozen chicken were offered at just 50% of their regular market prices.
Over 2,500 residents benefited from the program, with transactions facilitated through a streamlined POS system.

The market not only surpassed its sales targets but also received overwhelming appreciation from community members, many of whom described it as a vital lifeline.

In his address, the Chairman Hon. Segun David Odunmbaku reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to people-centered governance.

He emphasized the continued implementation of the subsidized Food Market initiative, now strengthened by strategic private sector partnerships, as evidence of his dedication to the well-being of residents during key festive periods.

Residents expressed their gratitude for Hon. Odunmbaku’s empathetic leadership, with their radiant smiles and warm words of thanks highlighting the initiative’s meaningful impact.
