President Bola Tinubu In Lagos, Inaugurates Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Project
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday officially inaugurated the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, marking a major milestone in Nigeria’s infrastructure development agenda.
The ceremony, held in Lagos, signaled the commencement of a flagship project that spans multiple coastal states, with the aim of enhancing connectivity, trade, tourism, and national integration.
Speaking at the event, President Tinubu emphasized that the project aligns with his administration’s commitment to economic expansion and regional development. He described the highway as a “legacy project” that will not only create jobs but also stimulate growth along Nigeria’s coastal corridor.
The Minister of Works, David Umahi, said the project will stretch over 700 kilometers, connecting Lagos to Cross River and passing through Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom.
Construction of the first phase—spanning Lagos to Lekki Deep Sea Port—is already underway.
The coastal highway is expected to include dual carriageways, rail lines, and service lanes, and is part of broader plans to overhaul Nigeria’s transport infrastructure.
