Court Prosecutes Man Over Alledged Theft Of N2.6M

One Kalejaiye Moses is facing court prosecution for allegedly stealing the sum of N2,600,000 in Lagos.
Moses, 24, was arraigned at the Badagry Magistrates’ Court by the Police on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.
He pleaded guilty.
Nevertheless, Police Prosecutor, Inspector Ayodele Adeosun, told the court sitting that the accused committed the offences alongside others not yet apprehended on October 4, 2024, at No 4, Agbeke Street, King George in Aradigun area, Badagry.
Adeosun stated that a mob caught the defendant in the act and reported to the complainant – one Tokenji Semako.
The Prosecutor said: ” Moses broke into the apartment of the complainant, one Tokenji Semako and stole the sum.
“He was caught by some neighbours of the complainant who handed him over to the police.
“The offences contravened Sections 287, 411, and 307 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”
Reports have it that Section 287 stipulates a three-year jail term for stealing. Section 411 mandates two year Imprisonment for conspiracy.
The Presiding Magistrate, Patrick Adekomaiya, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The matter is to be revisited in court on February 24.
