Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA Chairman, Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, in collaboration with Akanke Foundation, hosts its annual Christmas and New Year Funfair, a joyful celebration dedicated to children and a source of empowerment for widows and senior citizens.
The event, held amidst a festive atmosphere, was a poignant tribute to late Mrs. Sijuade Akanke Anomo, the visionary behind the initiative. Since its inception in 2021, the program has remained a cornerstone of the administration’s commitment to social welfare, children’s joy, and community support.
A moment of silence was honored for his late wife, describing her as the driving force behind the program. “This initiative reflects her deep love for children and her unwavering commitment to bringing joy to families during the festive season. Her legacy lives on through this event and the Akanke Foundation,” he said. Anomo promised a more memorable funfair in the years ahead.
The program witnessed the participation of prominent figures and many others who lauded the initiative’s impact.
Mrs. Tomi Adegboyega in her remark emphasized the foundation’s dedication to sustaining the late Mrs. Anomo’s vision. “The children’s funfair was very dear to her heart. Expanding the initiative to include cash support for widows and senior citizens reflects her generous spirit and commitment to uplifting the needy in our community,” she said.
The event featured a range of activities designed to delight children, including “pick and talk” games, train rides, bouncing castles, ice cream, popcorn, and face painting. Each widow and elderly attendee received ₦10,000 in cash support, offering relief and spreading cheer during the Yuletide season.
Areh AbdulHamid O., Chief Press Secretary of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, in his word said, the funfair encapsulated the late Mrs. Sijuade Akanke Anomo’s enduring legacy. “Her passion for social welfare and her dedication to ensuring the happiness of children and support for the vulnerable continues to inspire the community,” he noted.
