Court Remands Two For Stealing EKEDC Cables

Two scavengers are facing prosecution over allegations of stealing electricity cables belonging to the Eko Electricty Distribution Company, EKEDC.

At the Badagry Magistrates’ Court where the accused were arraigned, Police Prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, said that the duo: Habibu Nuru, 29, and Kabiru Yahaya, 22, are on trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

Ekpo also informed the court that the defendants committed the offences on November 16, at about 12.35 a.m, at Gbaji-Yeke Community, at Seme Border, Badagry, Lagos.

The prosecutor added that the offences contravened Sections 411 and 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The litigants pleaded not guilty.

The court thereafter remanded the suspects at the Awarjigoh Correctional Centre. Further prosecution on the matter begins on December 12.
