The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu recently had a meeting with the members of Nigerian Theatre at the Lagos House Marina.
The meeting was held to discuss the Lagos International Theatre Festival scheduled to on November 14 to 17, 2024. The event is aimed at felicitate and promote the uniqueness of Nigerian and African theatre as a whole.
At the meeting, Sanwo-Olu said “Our administration is intentional about investing in and promoting the creative industry. I believe that this sector will serve as a catalyst for economic growth, social and behavioral change, as well as a significant source of image enhancement for Nigeria.
“The commitment of the Lagos State government and theatre practitioners to the success of the festival is a further demonstration of the can-do spirit of Nigerians.”
Bolanle Austin Peter, the team lead of the festival co-ordinators. She said her heart is full of joy that the universe will watch the stunning and creative performances. She stressed the creative power of the Nigerian theatre and how it influences the personality of those exposed to it.
The Chairman of Channels TV, Dr John Momoh expressed his gratitude to Sanwo-Olu for supporting the project. He said “We need an international theatre festival. We have got the men and women to make this possible because we have the talent.”
