The Police in Lagos have arrested a suspect identified as Nasiru Mohammed over accusations of phone theft.
Mohammed was arraigned at the Ikeja High Court on Thursday.
The prosecution told Justice Oyindamola Ogala, who presided over the case, that the suspect is facing an eight count charge : one count of conspiracy, and seven for robbery.
The accused was said to have conspired with others still unarrested on July 4, 2023, at about 5.30 pm at the AP Filling Station, Bakare Lane, Agege, Lagos to commit the alledged act.
According to the Police, the gang made way to a phone sales shop with cutlasses and robbed one Atokan Abiodun of her Techno-Pro 7 phone valued at N87,000 and a Nokia phone worth N20,000.
In addition, they were also accused of robbing one James Adeku the sum of N20,000, and on the same day robbed another, Nnapana Joseph, of his Infinix-Hot 12 valued at N77,000.
Furthermore, one Akinboye Sunday was said to have been robbed of his Techno phone valued at N55,000, Effiong Isaac of his Techno phone valued at N22,000 and other personal belongings, Audu Ugojuju of the sum of N7000 and Kayode Oyemola, his Techno-Pop 5 valued at N55,000, all by the gang, as disclosed by the prosecution.
The defendants pleaded not guilty.
Justice Ogala adjourned the case to November 11, 2024.
