The management of Isolo Local Council Development Area, LCDA, has sponsored free Cataract surgeries to residents in the community.
Under the stewardship of the council Chairman, Olasoju Adebayo, the LCDA partnered with a group, The Eye Clinic, to hold the initiative in commemoration of the 2024 World Sight Day.
Adebayo disclosed that the event was held to further demonstrate his resolve to alleviate blindness of residents in the area.
During the program, a large number of the one thousand attendees were screened and listed for remedial surgery while others were put on medications and given reading glasses.
The first and second batches of the activity took place on 19th and 30th of October and will run through December, as stated by the council’s Medical Officer of Health, Ann Okonma.
Adebayo, while highlighting the importance of the program said: ” This initiative is crucial to the long-term well-being of our people.
“Our administration places a premium on constituent’s health and this is just one of the many strives we have in the pipeline. We are open to partnerships with more organizations and service clubs that share our vision to ensure that we sustainably make life more abundant for our people.
