Magistrate Remands Suspect For Defiling 12 Year -Old Girl

A man alleged to have had unlawful sexual intercourse with a 12 year-old has been arraigned at the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

The suspect, 42 year old Paul Paul, is facing prosecution for alleged defilement on the victim.

The Prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, told the court that Paul, at about 3:30 p.m, on May 13 at Barcha, Bonny Camp, Victoria Island, Lagos, forcing himself on the victim to commit the act.

Iberedem said that the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Ejiro Kubeinje, did not take plea of the defendant. Rather, she ordered his remand in a correctional centre.

Kubeinje adjourned the matter until June 26 pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.
