The Chief Judge, CJ, of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba, has canvased for an improvement in the state’s judicial system calling for it’s reform to ensure effective delivery.
Alogba expressed concern about lack of courtrooms for Magistrates to conduct cases among other constraints hindering effective justice in the state.
The CJ made this submission during a session at the ongoing Justice Reform Summit ongoing in Lagos.
He held that the administration of justice should be used for enhancement of economic growth, investment protection and security not only in the state but Nigeria in general.
At the first of the two-day forum on Monday which involved stakeholders who recommended lawful ways and means to address situation, Alogba said that the plight of magistrates and judges grappling with poor working conditions and inadequate welfare has become a concern in the legal profession.
He, however, assured that proactive steps are being taken to resolve the difficulties and to improve the overall welfare of judicial officers and staff of the courts.
Furthermore, the CJ drew the attention of participants to key aspects and areas of substantive and procedural law, that will enable them to improve on their activities to make sure justice is benefited in the state.
