The Magistrate Court in Ejigbo has remanded one Isaac John for allegely stealing properties in a church in Ijegun, Lagos.
Isaac, 29, accused of stealing items worth N260,000 was arrainged on Friday on two-count charge of stealing and breach of peace preferred against him by the police.
The prosecutor, ASP Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 10 at about 7:30 a.m, at No 65, Amusa Idowu Street, Ijegun.
Aigbokan said that the suspect conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by entering a worship centre, El Shadai Glory Assembly International Church, stealing three ceiling fans and 12.5mm of wire.
The Prosecutor also said that the offences contravened sections 168(d) and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty.
The magistrate, Kofoworola Ariyo, granted the defendant N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
She ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State government.
In addition, the Magistate, while adjoining the case till April 9 ordered that one of the sureties should be a blood relative to the defendant.
Also on Friday, one Ifeanyi Chijezie was arrainged before the Magistrate’ Court in Surulere for allegely stealing drainage iron cover in Ijeshatedo, Lagos.
23-year-old Chikezie, according to the Prosecutor, Insp. Courage Ekhueorohan, committed the offence on March 15, at Liadi Street, Ijeshatedo.
Ekhueorohan alleged that Chikezie was caught with a drainage cover by a mob who could get a satisfactory answer after being queried on how he got it.
The Prosector also told the court that Chikezie was handed over to the police for further investigation contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised)
Chikezie, who resides at No 8, Ondo close Ijeshatedo, Surulere Lagos, pleaded not guilty to a charge of stealing.
The Magistrate, Sanusi Adagun, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one responsible surety in like sum.
Adagun ordered that the address of the surety must be verified by the court and adjourned the matter til April 26, for mention.
