Court Remands Man For Assault, Attempted Murder.

A man identified as Micheal Uche has been arrested by Police officers at the Adeniji Adele Division, Lagos Island for alleged assault and attempted murder of a woman.

Police source disclosed that Uche assaulted the victim, Esther Ojih, by strangling her neck and biting her hand, causing her bodily harm.

When the matter was brought before the Tinubu Magistrate Court, Police Prosecutor, Koti Aodohemba, said that the duo, residents at Phase 3, Adeniji Adele Estate in Lagos Island, had an altercation which degenerated into a heated fight. The defendant was accused of commiting the crime afterwards.

A swift call was made to the Police at the division which was followed by a dispatch of men to the scene to restore order while the combatants were taken to the police post.

The defendant was charged before the court on a two-count charge bordering on an attempt to kill and biting of the complainant in a charge marked TC/8/2024.

The prosecutor said that the offences committed by the suspect were punishable under Sections 230 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Chief Magistrate, Adetokunbo Omoyele, granted him N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Omoyele adjourned the case till 20th February, 2024 for mention and ordered that the defendant be detained at the Ikoyi Correctional Facility till he perfects the bail conditions.
