The Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Mr. Emmanuel Bamigboye has convened security meeting with appropriate stakeholders in the community in order to prevent break down of law and order as yuletide season approaches.
In attendance were various security agencies, community leaders, religious leaders, government agencies and council officials at Palm Avenue, the Council Boss Office.
Related issues discussed during the meeting are drug abuse among youths, blocking access of roads for parties/carnivals without approval from appropriate authorities and use of fireworks during the festive season.
The committee resolved to take the following steps towards having a peaceful and blissful yuletide celebration:
– to arrest any person caught taking or in possession of hard drugs which have been prohibited for human consumption by the government
– to arrest and prosecute any individual or group of persons, blocking and obstructing free flow of traffic on the street/road for the purpose of any party or carnival during the season without approval from the appropriate authorities.
– to arrest and prosecute anyone using any explosive device (like knockout, banger etc), during the festive period.
The Chairman also warned against people hiding under the current economic situation to perpetrate crime, as the government is ready to prosecute anyone caught with such act.
Present at the meeting, representatives of the OP MESA, Nigeria Police, Directorate of State Security, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos Neighbour Safety Corps, National Orientation Agency. Also in attendance were, Secretary to the Local Government – Mrs. Olubunmi Gbadamosi, Supervisor on Inter-Governmental Affairs – Mr. Dele Napoleon, Council Manager – Comrade Sogo Osikoya, CDC Chairman – Chief Femi Okuyemi, Chief Imam of Mushin – Sheikh Sulaimon Olanijo, Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (Mushin Branch) – Primate Dare Oladele and other members of the security committee.
