Athletico Madrid star, Rasheedat Ajibade has reacted to winning the Copa de la Reina trophy in Spain.
The Super Falcons playmaker led the Las Rojiblancas to win the Copa de la Reina trophy for the second time in their history.
Ajibade admitted the tournament was very tough as she gives glory to God for achieving the feat.
She said the club had the aim of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League but since it did not work out, they had to console themselves with the historical Copa de la Reina title.
She said: “I feel grateful to God winning the Copa de la Reina in Spain, because it was a tough competition and also it was a tough season for us as a team.
“So I give glory to God that we were able to round up the season with a trophy because that’s one way we could console ourselves and also encourage our fans that have been there in the good and bad times.
“One of the aims we had for the season was to qualify for the Champions League but it was a difficult one because every team is improving and we didn’t really get our strides in the league. So we were able to compensate ourselves and fans with the Copa de la Reina trophy and I think it was really consoling for us.”
In another development, Ajibade has vowed to donate football kits to the grassroots annually.
The Athletico Madrid player put smiles on the faces of some grassroots players by donating football boots to them to aid their promising career.
She described the donation as an act of giving back to the grassroots club (Robo Queens) from where she started her career
“I think for me everything is to the glory of God, it’s not for me to take glory over anything I’m doing but it’s just my passion to see that I come back to my grassroots club or my alma mater to give back.
“I know what it feels like to come from an environment that doesn’t give you an advantage and how you struggle to get the basic needs to survive, it’s really difficult so we do this for a reason to lift other people up.”
The former Robo Queens midfielder expressed readiness to dole out football kits to the grassroots annually with the right support.
Ajibade has engaged in series of philanthropic gesture in the past, some months ago, she gave ten less privilege students scholarship to advance their education.
