Planting: Itire Ikate LCDA Boss Urges Community To Desist From Burning Refuse

In commemoration of the year 2023 Tree Planting Day, the Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon. (Dr.) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira has urged the residents of the council area to plant trees for a sustainable environment, adding that planting trees would ensure a healthy and beautiful environment for residents.
The council boss made this call during the celebration of the Year 2023 Tree Planting Day on Friday in the council area.
While speaking at the event which was tagged ‘Lets Green our City’, the council boss who was represented by the council leader, Hon. Hammed Oladipupo Idris said: “The wrongdoings in the environment have become worrisome issues and the local government is getting increasingly concerned.
“It has, therefore, become expedient that everyone must join the current face of environmental regeneration.
“Please join the crusade to sustain a healthy environment for future generations by beautifying and enhancing the aesthetics of your tenements and the environment.
“Residents should clear tertiary drains in front of their tenements and desist from dumping refuse into the drainage channels and water bodies.
“They should desist from indiscriminate burning of refuse and plant trees at every given opportunity.’’
Apatira then reiterated that his government is committed to the tree-planting campaign, hence people should continue to embrace its noble objectives.
On his part, Hon. Folu Aofolajuwonlo, the Supervisor for Environment, thanked the people for gracing the occasion and prayed for more participation in the subsequent edition of the annual event.
Present at the event were the Surulere APC Apex Leader, Chief. D. O. Adenekan, Itire-Ikate APC LGA Chairman, Alhaji Safariyu Ayinde Kushimo, APC Chieftain, Chief Fadoju, representatives of the CDC, SLG, Hon. Kehinde Baruwa, Councilors, and management staffs amongst others.
