Coker Aguda LCDA has commenced the demolition of old and weakened structures within the council secretariat.

Some buildings have been observed to be shaking while walking along their corridors and within the office complex.

Noting this, the council chairman, Hon. Rasaq Ibrahim Olamilekan (RIO) quickly took a proactive measure by directing the works department to carry out a structural integrity assessment on all the buildings.

He also directed the council manager to move out all the staff and their working tools, chairs, and table out of the building in preparation for the demolition of the building.

It was gathered that the affected building had been rehabilitated several times by past administrations.

The demolition of the building commenced after all the useful equipment and materials had been uninstalled and evacuated by the works department.

Meanwhile, the council boss urged the residents of some old and distressed building within the council area, which have been marked for demolition by Lagos State to go for a structural integrity test and evacuate such building if it fails the test.

“This is an important safety measure for life and property,” he said.
