Plateau United coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu has sponsored the FAST FEET Inter-Secondary Schools Invitational Relay Championship.

Ilechukwu, in collaboration with

Fast Feet Sports Club, is the organiser of the athletics championship scheduled for 9 am on Saturday at the Zaria Road Stadium, Jos, Plateau State.

“I’m delighted to be associated with Fast Feet Sports Club, and foot the bill of the athletics event billed for this weekend in Jos,” said Ilechukwu.

“This is my little way of giving back to society as I see sorts as life.

“I’m a football coach but I understand what sports means and how sporting activities can keep one physically fit, and healthy and helps relieve stress.

“The value of sport and physical activity is wide-ranging and, as such the FAST FEET Inter-Secondary Schools Invitational Relay Championship will play an important role in promoting the psychological well-being among secondary school students in Jos.

“I want to urge schools and students to take a chance and be part of the FAST FEET championship.

“This is a platform to catch them young, and from their nature, to become stars that will represent Nigeria in international tournaments.

“It also serves as a means of getting our young ones busy, so they don’t engage in social vices. So the Plateau State government has a role in making this a yearly event.

“Events lined up for the athletics championship are 4x 400m male and female and 4x 100m male and female.

“Medals and certificates will be given to participating schools and athletes that show brilliance in the relay events.”
