As Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu goes into his second term as the governor of Lagos state, one key issue he has vowed to deal with is travel time of Lagos commuters and motorists.
Sanwo-Olu who inaugurated 13 projects a few days to his inauguration said that his administration would continue to expand the transportation sector with modern and sustainable road infrastructure as part of activities to herald his second tenure.
Towards his swearing-in, the governor emphasized on intermodal transportation, which mad him to build new jetties, roads and his resoluteness to complete the Red light Rail and also put the Blue Rail Line in maximum use.
Traffic situation in Lagos is growing tougher by the day due to daily increasing population. To Sanwo-Olu while he was inaugurating some projects, the newt administration is committed to improving commuters’ travel experience, saving important man-hours that would have been otherwise lost to traffic; providing better riding surfaces; boosting interconnectivity and generally making life more meaningful for commuters in Lagos State.
To kick-start the ease of transportation, the governor opened the newly rehabilitated Mba-Cardoso Street, Ajegunle; Akesan Obadore Road, Alimosho; Ikeja. He also inaugurated new jetties with waiting shelters and shoreline protection at Marina and Isaju-Ajido in Badagry, as well as at Ilashe and Ijegun-Egba in Amuwo-Odofin.
Reacting to the governor’s gesture at the inauguration of Mba-Cardoso St
reet in Ajegunle the former Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Aramide Adeyoye said the Sanwo-Olu administration will always improve the quality of life of the people and drive massive socio-economic growth through infrastructure upgrade and renewal.
She said, “The commitment of this administration to put in place infrastructure that will enhance the well-being of Lagosians and empower them across economic activities is brought to the fore.“
In his remarks, the Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area, Hon. Fatal Adekunle Ayoola said the rehabilitation of the Mba-Cardoso road has brought great relief to the residents of Ajeromi- Ifelodun, noting that the successful rehabilitation of the 3 kilometre road is “a dividend of democracy, reaching the doorstep of the masses in Ajegunle, through the Lagos State’s Government capacity driven administrative insights”.
Speaking at the commissioning of newly upgraded jetties with waiting shelters and shorelines in Badagry, Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Adebayo Olukayode Sodade, expressed his delight at the completion of the projects that will serve the protection to the populace of Ijegun Egba and its environs.
The Governor assured Lagosians of the government’s commitment to completing ongoing jetty constructions and enforcing safety regulations to ensure safe travel on the waterways.
The commissioning of multiple jetties reflects the Lagos State government’s commitment to improving transportation infrastructure, enhancing water transportation, and reducing travel time for Lagos residents.
