No fewer than 50 widows were given welfare packages by Ikorodu Metro Lions Club during a programmer tagged, ‘A day with the Widows, Feeding the Hunger’ held at the Igbodu axis of Ikorodu.
Offering to put smile on the faces of the elderly, the club banded with Great Height Women Achievers International Club to cater for the widows in Ijede LCDA.
Speaking, Lion Oredipe of Ikorodu Metro Lion Club stated that the club has been supportive over the years based on membership capacity which has made a difference.
“The resemblance between Princess Scholastica’s club and ours is her passion to support people around her community. We’re aiding the widows through the corridor of Princess Scholastica, letting her know that giving makes the world go round, and she should continue caring for the widows to the best of her capability.
“Helping the less privileged and needy has been our goal from day one, and we do it for no political reasons or eye service.
“We understand the unspeakable joy that arouses from our type of service, and that satisfaction alone is priceless.”
In appreciation, Ezuma praised Ikorodu Metropolitan Lions Club for its consistently giving habit, urging the club to continue aiding the less privileged.
She said: “It is only God that can reward the givers, and I know my God will support all members of Ikorodu Metro for all they do around Ikorodu.
“This is the second time this year we’re putting such a programme together for the widows, and seeing Ikorodu Metropolitan Lions Club leveraging on it is a thing of utmost relief.”
Hinting her interest to join the club, Ezuma requested the project coordinator to engage her in the various requirements needed to officially make her a unit of the club.
Beneficiaries subsequently rained prayers and blessings on the club, expressing their sincere gratitude for the welfare packages.
