“The tournament organised in her honour and remembrance is a great one for such good and outstanding player who should not be forgotten. It was so sad we lost her but the tournament is a great initiative.” Nkwocha told pressmen.

At 16 years and 34 days, Ifeanyi Chiejine holds the record for the youngest player at the FIFA Women’s World Cup during the Super Falcons game against North Korea on June 20, 1999.

Perpetua added: “Ifeanyi Chiejine, may her soul continue to rest in peace. Amen. Ifeanyi was a very good, strong, and skillful player. She was so intelligent on and off the pitch. The youngest player to play at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

“A disciplined player who wants everyone around her to do well. She is dedicated to whatever task you gave her and she always encouraged the young players to be serious and disciplined.
