The people of Itire community are in joyous mood as the construction of the second longest street in the community is almost ready for commissioning by the facilitator, Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye.
Ijaiye Street, which is one of the most populous with many commercial activities, ranging from bread baking, hotels, food canteens, also has many relaxation centres with many other social activities.
The street links Adeniyi Street which also links the Iyana Itire road axis to Denedo Street with other connecting streets like Adedeji, Okuribido, Karimu Taiwo and Amodu Streets.
The project, which commenced some months ago and has reached 90 per cent of completion, has gone through different stages which include sanitation, setting of kerbs, laying of stone base, compaction with rollers, sand bedding, while the project is currently at paving stone setting stage and will still undergo spreading of sand on the interlock and rolling of paving stone with rolling machine for proper compaction and locking, before final painting of kerbs for aesthetics with giant specification.
Residents of the street and Itire community in general have commended the council chairman for the giant stride and bold step taken to develop Itire community which has been neglected for many years.
The project is due for completion and commissioning in the second week of November 2022, with great expectations and anxiety from the people of Itire community.
Bamigboye had promised, at the beginning of his second term, to construct, rehabilitate and repair 10 roads annually and he is working the talk as promised.
