We encourage female footballers by supporting and celebrating them – President Sapphire Women Supporters Club

The birth of Sapphire supporters club has given another angle to the promotion and support given to female football as they focus mainly on supporting and cheering of Nigeria female footballers or athletes at any sporting event.

Sapphire women supporters club made history of been the only women supporters club in Nigeria and have decided to focus on female footballers and athletes to ensure they are empowered to be good role models in the country.

Speaking with ECHONEWS, the president of Sapphire women supporters club, Mrs Jadesola Adelabu noted that Sapphire women supporters club was created to encourage Nigeria female footballers in the grassroots, support and celebrate them to be accomplished in their career.

She also stated that, Sapphire women supporters club and FC Robo fans club came together to organize a female football competition to contribute their quota to the development of female football in the grassroots, educate and foster empowerment of the girl child through sport.

“In a nutshell Sapphire Nigeria Women Supporters Club is about encouraging Nigeria female footballers from the grassroots, supporting and celebrating female athletes/footballers in sport.

“Our aim of organizing this tournament is Inline with our vision to contribute to the development of female football at the grassroot level and most importantly to educate and foster empowerment of the girl child through sport.”
