The head coach of Divine FC, Matthew Mayate has described his first taste of winning a trophy as a coach, as an overwhelming moment and blessing for him.

The Edo State born coach noted how his team came second in the Mushin Challenge Cup after losing to Satech FC by 2 valuable points.

“It’s overwhelming winning my first trophy as the manager for Divine FC and I feel very blessed too. Divine FC have never won any game at Bishop Aggey mini stadium in Mushin before, so it’s a great feat for the club winning their first trophy there and also able to break the jinx.

“We lost to Satech FC in the Mushin Challenge Cup by two points, so we had to correct our lapses and eventually beat them in the final of the Samo Memorial Cup.”

He added that Divine FC have highlighted so many developmental programmes for their players next year to make the team a formidable one.

Divine FC defeated Satech in the final of the Samo Memorial Cup 6-5 via penalty shootout after playing a barren draw in full time.

The goalie of Satech FC was instrumental to his side not conceding any goal but lost his own spot kick in the penalty shootout as Divine FC were crowned champions.
