US Consulate certifies iStarter ICT-trained students

The US Consulate in Nigeria has certified the young girls trained in digital printing by iStarter Hub located in Isolo while commending the organisers for perfect job.
About 100 young girls were trained on digital printing and given equipment to start the business.
The training was put up by the founder of the organisation, iSarter Hub, Modupe Darabidan and the former Leader and of Isolo LCDA, Hon. Remy Shittu Remy, who is also an International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) alumnus.
Darabidan, a US Government alumnus, Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young Africa Leaders, said she established iStarter Hub to train young girls before they secure admission into higher institution of learning to equip them with job opportunity to better their lives.
According to her, the training, being carried out at their training centre, Girl Creative Hub, at Ago-Palace Way, Isolo, is one of the empowerment trainings by the organisation.
Having inspected the outputs of the trained students after competing their training at the centre, the Counsellor for Public Affairs, US Embassy, Abuja, Adnan Siddiqi, certified their expertise.
He said the US Consulate will continue to encourage and support development of small and medium enterprises in Nigeria.
“In the US we believe all people are important. We are encouraged by this project and we support it. We shall continue to help by providing training for those who need it for SMEs to grow in Nigeria,” he said.
While presenting startup kits to some of the participants, the Deputy Public Affairs Officer, US Consulate General, Lagos, Jennifer Foltz, congratulated the participants, from more support from the US.
One of the trainees, Funmi Adesayan, said she came for the training when she could not secure job after graduating from Higher institution.
She confirmed that she has since been making money from the Job, adding that she has also been training other young ones in digital printing.
Others commended the organisers for the opportunity, promising to impact the knowledge in others to reduce unemployment rate in the society.
The organisers said the next phase of the training will soon unveiled, stating that it would be a continual programme for the young girls in Oshodi-Isolo LGA.
