Residents commend Ayodeji for desilting drains

The residents of Low-Cost Housing Estate, Jakande Ejigbo have commended the All Progressive Congress (APC) vice chairmanship candidate, Ayodele Ayodeji aka SMA, for desilting the drains along the major roads in the Estate.

Ayodeji was said to have rehabilitated the road last year after several attempts by the community.

According to the residents, the drain had become an eyesore because some portions were eroded.

While appreciating the efforts of the vice chairmanship candidate, the chairman of Double Star Community Development Association (CDA), Engr. Fatai Oloko, who supervised the exercise, said the drain has to be desilted before filling the potholes on the road with hardcore.

He said the idea of desilting the drain first was adopted as the most appropriate to retain the durability of the road to avoid quick damage.

He noted that the desilting of the 200/250 meters drainage will help the free flow of water and prevent the erosion of the sand-filled road and also prevent flood in the rainy season which has been the state of the road.

He explained that the drainage would be desilted through Jakande-Gate Oja second gate down to Double Star junction to make the road motorable for all road users.

He appreciated the efforts of all APC Oke-Afa Ward stakeholders who suggested the Double Star road project to the politician last year while commending the councillor representing the ward, Hon. Ismail Omoniyi for working with Ayodeji to facilitate the rehabilitation of the road last year December.
